Mechanical Fitter – Machine Building (Not Just Assembly!)

Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire
Hours: 4-Day Week – Monday to Thursday
Salary: £33,000 – £43,000 per annum (DOE) + Paid Overtime
Travel: Occasional travel required – daily allowances paid when on site

Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter with true mechanical empathy and a passion for precision engineering?

This established manufacturer in Leeds is looking for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join their close-knit team. This is not your standard ‘parts assembly’ role — you’ll be building complex machines where your understanding of mechanical fit, clearances, lubrication and fine adjustments is critical to ensuring each build functions exactly as intended.

What you’ll be doing:

• Build and fit bespoke machinery from scratch – not just bolting parts together
• Apply your deep understanding of tolerances, clearances and lubrication points
• Work hands-on with bearings, bushes, shafts, and moving parts, ensuring long-term reliability
• Occasionally travel to site when needed (additional daily allowances paid)

• Proven experience building complete machines – not just basic sub-assemblies
• Strong practical understanding of mechanical principles, fits and tolerances
• Ability to interpret complex mechanical drawings and specs
